🚨 Service Alert: Schedule Changes & New Route Launch on September 4, 2024 🚨

We’re excited to announce several updates to our bus services starting September 4, 2024:

Magnolia Route (Yellow Route):

Departure Time: The Magnolia Route will now depart 25 minutes later than previously scheduled.
New Schedule:
Monday to Friday: Every 2 hours from 6:55 AM to 4:55 PM from Rose Baker Senior Center.
Saturday: Every 2 hours from 8:55 AM to 4:55 PM.

Business Express Route (Orange Route):

Additional Trip: A new 4:00 PM departure from Rose Baker Senior Center on Saturdays.

Essex/West Gloucester Route (Purple Route):

Schedule Adjustments: Minor changes in departure times due to lower off-season traffic.

On September 4th, we’re thrilled to launch the Gloucester Crossing/Blackburn Express (Pink Route)! This new route will connect downtown Gloucester with Blackburn Industrial Park and Gloucester Crossing, featuring stops at:

Marshalls
Curtis Clark Building
Cape Ann Medical Center in Blackburn
Explore these key locations with ease and convenience!

Route 2A Gloucester Crossing Blackburn Express

Attention Essex residents! Did you know that CATA offers a convenient, year-round bus service running six days a week between Essex and Gloucester?

The bus operates every two hours from 7:30 AM to 6:30 PM. You can catch the bus from the Rose Baker Senior Center at 7:30 AM, 9:30 AM, 11:30 AM, 1:30 PM, 3:30 PM, and 4:40 PM.
From the Essex Housing Authority, it departs at 7:50 AM, 9:50 AM, 11:50 AM, 1:50 PM, 3:50 PM, and 5:50 PM.

Whether you need to visit the grocery store, MBTA Train Station, restaurants, shops, or simply enjoy a day in Gloucester and Cape Ann, CATA has you covered!

The Cape Ann Transportation Authority (CATA) is pleased to announce several service improvements and schedule adjustments that will take effect Monday, July 1, 2024. The schedule adjustments include additional morning and afternoon trips on the Business Express and Lanesville routes, service expansion into Essex, and more consistent service to Magnolia and West Gloucester.

On weekdays, the Business Express will start at 6:22am from Gloucester Crossing and run hourly from the Rose Baker Senior Center, with the last departure and full trip at 6:00pm (out of service at 6:50pm).

On weekdays, the Lanesville route will start at 5:50am (replaces 6:05am trip). The 5:50am trip will run the regular route up to the Gloucester Commuter Rail, allowing customers to make a better connection to the Commuter Rail. An additional Lanesville trip has been added at 5:50pm from Rockport Market on weekdays.

The Magnolia and West Gloucester routes have new schedules, running every two hours Monday through Saturday. The West Gloucester route has also been extended into the Town of Essex, proving service along the Essex River Causeway as well as the Essex Housing Authority and the Memorial Park area.
